I like the whale photo right at the top. Is it all just whales on the walls? Posted by: ady at November 13, 2004 5:05 PMAdy: The whale paintings commemorate a time when the Port Authority oversaw a vast network of whales transporting New Yorkers throughout the five boroughs. Sadly the system was shut down in 1912 after a horrible tragedy in which the hydrogen gas inflating one whale went up in a huge fireball just as it was docking at the top of the Empire State Building.
